Charlie Talks to TVLine about Jax’s Evolution and His Real Stance on Awards

TVLINE | What initially drew you to Sons of Anarchy and the role of Jax?
I grew up in a rough-and-tough neighborhood, so I don’t actually relate to those shows and films about twentysomethings trying to make their way in the world. [Laughs] I just loved Jax. There are a million different dynamics at play within him… This project came at a strange time in my career when I wasn’t getting any [film] roles I wanted… So, I took 18 months off [to work on a screenplay], and then my agent and manager sent me the Sons of Anarchy script. I was surprised it was for a TV show, but I thought, ‘F–k it!’ – and it was fantastic! The idea was so original, the characters were well drawn and the quality of [executive producer] Kurt [Sutter]’s writing was better than the films I was reading.

TVLINE | There was also more depth to Jax’s relationship with Tara.
Maggie [Siff] had an amazing season. That’s one of the richest creative collaborations I’ve ever had with an actor. The way their relationship’s evolved and how close we’ve gotten really translates onscreen; that’s actually one of the things I’m most proud of on the show.

TVLINE | The series has a few more seasons in it … Then what?
I’d like to do it all. I’d love to keep acting. I have a couple of scripts that I’ve sold, one of which I’m writing for myself to star in. Ultimately, I’d love to direct a film. [If I did] more TV, it would really have to be for [cable] or working with someone like Kurt — if not Kurt, directly. Because I would do another Kurt Sutter show.

TVLINE | When all is said and done, how would you like Sons of Anarchy to be remembered?
As a really smart, original, gritty drama… In same way people think of The Sopranos or Deadwood — with reverence.

Official Synopsis For ‘Pacific Rim’ Released!

According to MarketSaw and Fanboy Confidential, this is the official synopsis for the upcoming science fiction spectacle Pacific Rim, which will feature robots battling giant monsters! They also said that the first look will be shown at the San Diego Comic Con later this year.

Check out the synopsis below!

From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi action adventure “Pacific Rim.”

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Oscar® nominee Guillermo del Toro (“Pan’s Labyrinth”) is directing “Pacific Rim” from a script by Travis Beacham (“Clash of the Titans”). Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent are producing, with Callum Greene serving as executive producer.

The film stars Charlie Hunnam (TV’s “Sons of Anarchy”), Idris Elba (“Thor”), Rinko Kikuchi (“The Brothers Bloom”), Charlie Day (“Horrible Bosses”), and Ron Perlman (the “Hellboy” films). The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke.

Charlie To Make Guest Appearance at Sickies Garage Burgers and Brews Grand Opening!

Charlie is scheduled to appear at Sickies Garage Burgers and Brews June 9th!

FARGO – Sickies Garage Burgers and Brews, a 1950s and ’60s garage-themed restaurant and bar, is slated to open June 7 in the former Bottle Barn Liquor store location at The Hub entertainment complex, 2525 9th Ave. S.

The business shares the Sickies Garage name with an established clothing line and is also borrowing its feeling and theme as well.

The atmosphere won’t be reminiscent of the 1950s style shown on the “Happy Days” television program, said Kerry Fernholz of Starmark Hospitality. Its look will be a little edgier, with a retro feel.

The quick-serve menu will feature cooked-to-order burgers and other sandwiches and 1950s-themed items, such as malts.

Sickies will be one of the first bars or restaurants in the area to feature draft beer table taps. Tables will be equipped with four taps. A server will take the initial order and will then load a certain amount of beer for the table. Customers will be able to refill their glasses from the taps as they’re ready. Servers will check back periodically, but the advantage is that customers won’t have to wait for the server for refills.

Specific marketing and events are planned to attract car enthusiasts. Fernholz said events such as car and hot rod shows and drive-in theater nights during which movies are projected on an exterior wall are planned.

Proposed outdoor events will feature beer gardens, picnic areas, bands and carhop-type service from waitresses on roller skates.

Celebrity appearances are planned at grand opening events on June 8 and 9.

Lee Rocker of The Stray Cats will appear June 8.

Charlie Hunnam, who plays Jax Teller on the FX series “Sons of Anarchy,” will appear June 9
